Sculptra Injections

Sculptra is a marvelous new addition to a host of soft tissue and wrinkle fillers offered by Allure Aesthetics. Sculptra is injected into the subcutaneous fat layers below the skin. When Sculptra is injected it causes the skin layers to thicken giving the skin a more youthful plump appearance. Sculptra literally fills folds, indentations and facial depressions.

Sculptra is Poly-L-Lactic Acid. Sculptra is biocompatible, meaning it is something that is easily broken down by the body. Because Sculptra is biocompatible and contains the same material used in dissolvable stitches and soft tissue implants for many years, Sculptra Injections do not require a skin test prior to your Sculptra Treatments. That means that you can have your Sculptra Treatment during your initial office visit.

Sculptra can be injected into areas where loss of facial fat (Lipodystrophy) has caused depressions, irregularities and folds. Sculptra replaces the volume from the fatty tissue loss that can occur with weight loss, medication use or as a result of various disease states. Sculptra can also be used to fill in the Nasolabial Folds (folds from the corners of the nose to the mouth) for a more youthful appearance.

It should be noted however, that Sculptra works a little differently than other types of soft-tissue fillers. When most other fillers are injected, there is an immediate filling and plumping effect. This effect then decreases over time. In the case of Sculptra, the Sculptra crystals are suspended in an injectable l iquid. When Sculptra is injected, there is an immediate plumping effect that occurs from the liquid that was injected. This liquid and any minor swelling that occurs from the Sculptra Injection will disappear in the next several days! That's important to understand. The plumping effects of the Sculptra take several weeks to see the final effect. Once the initial liquid is gone, some people may believe that the Sculptra didn't work and seek further correction to the area. The Sculptra is working. It just takes several weeks for the Sculptra crystals to reach their full plumping effects.

It's important not to use Sculptra to over-correct the fold or depression. It's better to repeat the Sculptra Injection in 6-8 weeks if further plumping is desired. The cost of Sculptra will vary on the amount used and the complexity of the designed injected area. Sculptra has been shown to last 2 years in reported company studies. Sculptra is a wonderful way to plump up areas of the face that appear sallow, hollow or gaunt from loss of supporting fatty tissue.

Treatment Areas

Sculptra skin rejuvenation treatment is used for:
  • Deep folds between the nose and mouth

  • Wrinkles around the mouth

  • Fine lines on cheeks/chin

  • Jowl droop to lift and tighten skin

  • Forehead frown lines

Side Effects

Sculptra has minimal discomfort and can be done as an office visit. It is safe, fast, and very economical when compared to other deep soft tissue fillers. As with any injection, there may be some swelling, redness or bruising for a few days after an injection of Sculptra. Patients occasionally experience other visible side effects, such as the appearance of tiny lumps or nodules under the skin that may settle over time. You are encouraged to massage the area afterwards to reduce side effects.
